MT. MORRIS VILLAGE ORDINANCES 

 

 

 

 

Animals

 

Dog tags are due by May 1st of each year. It is unlawful to allow any dog to run at large. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Dogs are not allowed in any public park at any time, whether leashed or unleashed. It is unlawful to keep any animal that disturbs the peace by loud noises at any time of the day or night.

 

 

Building Permits

 

Applications for all building permits shall be made to the Village Clerk. Permits are required to construct or alter any building. Sidewalks are required along the frontage of premises to which a permit is issued. Permits are also required to construct a billboard, swimming pool, sidewalks and driveways. Leaf Burning Prohibited

 

All open burning of refuse, leaves, grass or brush is prohibited. Small recreational fires of wood only are allowed in a fire safe vessel or pit not exceeding thirty inches (30") in diameter. Any recreation fires must be extinguished by 12 o'clock (12:00) midnight. All recreational fires must be supervised by an adult at all times.

 

 

Parking After Snowfall

 

After a snowfall depth of two inches (2") or more it will be unlawful to park any vehicle on any public street unless the snow has been plowed or otherwise removed from 7:00 a.m. on that day and 7:00 a.m. of the following day on even calendar days. Vehicles may be parked on the odd numbered side of the street between the hours of 7:00 a.m. on that day and 7:00 a.m. of the folowing day on odd calendar days.

 

 

Recycling Guidelines  

 

(Effective 12/31/08)

 

Recyclable Items will be picked up EVERY WEDNESDAY for entire Village. This is a 5 year contract.

 

Containers to be at curb by (Items may be mixed together in one container)

 

Recycling containers supplied by contractor and are available at Village Hall.

 

Metal Products

Tin & aluminum cans only.  Be sure all items are empty.  Place lids inside of cans.

 

Glass Products

Glass jars & bottles only. Be sure all items are empty and remove lids.  Labels do not need to be removed.  (Window glass is considered household waste.)

 

Plastic Products

Plastic jugs and bottles and containers with the numbers 1 through 7 on the bottom are acceptable. Empty containers and remove lids.  Labels need not be removed.

 

Paper Products

All newsprint, cardboard and heavy wrapping paper is acceptable.  Please stack neatly in your recycling bin or a paper grocery bag.  Break down boxes and fold into bin.

 

In the event that you have more recyclables than your bin will hold, all items may be placed in separate paper bags or other container near your recycling bin.  Please do not use plastic bags for your excess recyclable items.

BULKY WASTE ITEMS – Large household items

Bulky items include couches, chairs, mattresses, tables, dressers, bicycles, rugs, carpets (30 lbs., 5 feet long max.), etc.

 

ITEMS NOT INCLUDED IN HOUSEHOLD PICKUP

 

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

Construction items include remodeling wastes, doors, windows, drywall, wood scraps, blocks, bricks, rock, sand, dirt, landscape timbers, old auto parts, etc.  Residents must arrange for pickup of these items privately.  Large dumpsters are available for construction projects.

 

WHITE GOODS

White goods include stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, freezers, softener tanks, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, washers, dryers, etc.  Residents must arrange for pickup of these items privately.

 

Residents with household hazardous waste should look for county sponsored programs which are held periodically at The Ogle County Fairgrounds.

 

A map of pickup routes is available at the Village Clerk's Office. Rochelle Disposal is the current garbage contractor. Rates are $14.50 per month.

  

 

Yard Waste Pick Up

By Contractor

(Unlimited Quantity)

Every FRIDAY from March 1, 2010 through November 24, 2010

 

● Yard waste should be at the curb by

 

● Yard waste should be placed in a container marked with an X, not exceeding 33 gallons in capacity and/or 30 pounds.

 

● Biodegradable yard waste bags or cardboard boxes are acceptable and WILL NOT be emptied or left on site. Plastic garbage bags are not acceptable.

 

Branches not exceeding 1” in diameter or 4 feet in length, which are bundled with string are acceptable.  Unbundled or uncontained yard waste will be rejected at the curb.

 

Special bags may be picked up at the Village Clerk's office.

 

  

Brush Pick Up

 

(by the Village of Mt. Morris Street Dept.)

 

Brush larger than 1” and after major storms will be picked up by the Village

 the LAST MONDAY of each month, March through November 2010.

 (If Monday is a holiday, pick up will be on Tuesday.)

 

  Brush a larger than 1” in diameter  (Branches less than 1 inch are considered yard waste.)

 

  Place brush on the terrace by parallel and as close to the curb as possible, but not in the street.

 

  Brush piles are not to exceed 4 feet in height, 4 feet in depth and 12 feet in length with 1 foot spacing between piles.

 

   Do not pile brush under low hanging trees, behind or around utility poles, trees or other obstructions, or on top of water valves. The city will not be held responsible for damage caused to water lines due to brush being piled on top of them.

 

  Piles considered yard waste or not stacked properly will not be picked up.

 

 

 

THE VILLAGE OF MT. MORRIS WILL CONTINUE TO COLLECT LEAVES IN THE FALL.

ALL LEAVES WILL BE PLACED AT THE CURB FOR ACCESS BY THE VACUUM TRUCK.

 

EXACT DATES OF LEAF PICK UP SERVICE WILL BE ANNOUNCED

EACH YEAR  AS FALL CONDITIONS BECOME KNOWN.

 

Holidays – No pickup on Christmas or New Years Day.  All other holidays have normal pickup.
